Income tax returns: ABAD chief urges FBR to immediately extend filing deadline

KARACHI: Muhammad Hassan Bakhshi Chairman ABAD has called on the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to immediately extend the deadline for filing income tax returns, citing the business community’s preoccupation with ongoing elections. Bakhshi said that trade bodies and the business community across the country are currently engaged in election-related activities, making it difficult for them to focus on timely tax filing. He said that meeting the tax return filing deadline within the stipulated time has become a genuine challenge for traders and businessmen nationwide. Bakhshi urged the FBR to further extend the last date for filing returns, stressing that the tax authority should provide adequate and reasonable time to the business community to fulfill this obligation without added pressure. He said that granting an extension would allow traders and businessmen to participate fully in the electoral process while also ensuring compliance with tax regulations once their election commitments conclude.
