ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday again extended the physical remand of the suspect arrested in the murder of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Group Captain Asim Tariq. Duty ATC Judge Rakhshanda Shaheen extended the physical remand of the accused, Saad Abbasi, for another four days and directed police to produce him before the court on August 7. Earlier, police produced the suspect before the ATC Judge after the expiry of the previous seven-day physical remand. At the start of the hearing, prosecutor Raja Naveed Hussain Kiani requested that the court extend the suspect’s physical remand for 20 days. He told the court that police have recovered the pistol allegedly used by the accused in the murder. The prosecutor further said that police required an extension of the physical remand to conduct further investigation and carry out his polygraph (lie detection) test. He requested the court to hand over the accused to police for another 20 days on physical remand. The court after hearing arguments reserved its verdict. Later, the court while announcing its judgment extended the physical remand of the accused for four days.
