Govt to allow spectators at HBL-PSL-11 final on May 3

LAHORE: Cricket fans will enjoy the final of HBL-PSL-11, as the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif allowed fans to watch the final match at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on May 3. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for allowing fans to watch the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final match. In a post uploaded on X platform on Saturday, Mohsin Naqvi said he had requested Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to allow spectators to enjoy the PSL final. While the PM had been mindful of the ongoing austerity measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption, he approved fan attendance for the final following a request from the franchise owners. The final of the HBL PSL 11 between the winners of the Qualifier and Eliminator 2 will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Sunday, May 3, 2026. Moreover, the HBL-PSL-11 observed the Golden Ribbon Day for raising awareness regarding childhood cancer during the double-header here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday. In the afternoon match, Quetta Gladiators faced Karachi Kings, while Lahore Qalandars faced Peshawar Zalmi in the evening fixture. According to online available data around 8, 000 to 10, 000 children in Pakistan are diagnosed with cancer annually. Early detection can raise the chances of survival up to 85 per cent. The players and officials wore golden caps, Peshawar Zalmi wore a special golden kit, while the broadcast graphics were also in golden colour to show solidarity and raise awareness regarding the disease. The HBL PSL has also invited eight kids who have survived cancer in their lives. This day was observed in partnership with the Indus Hospital, a healthcare unit which has successfully treated more than 14, 000 childhood cancer patients. Chief Executive Officer Pakistan Super League Salman Naseer said, “Beyond the boundaries and the thrill of competition, the HBL PSL has always been a platform for meaningful change. Today we stand in solidarity with the young warriors battling cancer as we #GoGold. Let’s turn the stadium and our feeds gold. It is vital that we dedicate our time and energies towards raising awareness and empathizing with those affected by the childhood cancer and their loved ones.
