The government on Thursday rejected viral reports claiming that petrol pumps across the country would shut down from May 1, terming them baseless and misleading. In a statement, the Petroleum Division said the supply of petroleum products remains uninterrupted, and there are no plans for any closure of fuel stations. It urged the public to avoid spreading panic based on unverified information, warning that such negative propaganda only creates unnecessary anxiety among citizens. The division said that since the onset of tensions in the Middle East, fuel supply in the country has continued without disruption and remains stable. It added that the government is taking all necessary measures to ensure consistent availability of petroleum products in the future as well.
