The government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs2. 27 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs3. 56 for the next review period, according to a Petroleum Division notification issued on Monday. The price of petrol has been cut from Rs391. 30 to Rs389. 03 per litre, while diesel has been reduced from Rs408. 53 to Rs404. 97 per litre. The revised prices will take effect on September 29, 2026, under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism. The Petroleum Division said the revision was based on changes in the international market, including Platts rates, premiums and incidentals. The latest cut comes after the government on Friday increased the price of petrol by Rs2. 02 per litre and reduced HSD by Rs3. 59 per litre for three days. Petrol had risen from Rs389. 28 to Rs391. 30 per litre, while diesel fell from Rs412. 12 to Rs408. 53 per litre. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the prices based on changes in international market rates, including Platts rates, premiums and incidentals, the Petroleum Division said. In the previous review on Thursday, the government had reduced the price of HSD by Rs2. 63 per litre to Rs412. 12 and petrol by 84 paise to Rs389. 28 per litre. International benchmark Brent crude rose 3. 2 per cent to $107. 63 per barrel around 1600GMT, after earlier climbing above $108. West Texas Intermediate also gained around three per cent to $95. 61 per barrel, close to its session high.
