Funeral prayers offered for soldiers martyred in Hangu

Funeral prayers were offered in Peshawar for Pakistan Army soldiers who were martyred in an exchange of fire with militants in Hangu, the military’s media wing said on Monday. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, the Peshawar Corps Commander, families of the martyrs and senior civil and military officials attended the funeral prayers. The martyrs were identified as Captain Abuzar Farooq, Lieutenant Sheraz Babar, Sepoy Shakeel Ahmed, Sepoy Hamza, Sepoy Muhammad Usman Aziz and non-combatant Ghulam Sajjad. The ISPR said the bodies of the martyrs had been sent to their native areas, where they would be laid to rest with full military honours. It said the sacrifices of the martyrs in defending the country further strengthened the security forces’ resolve to protect the nation.
