FDA directs strict implementation of anti-dengue steps

FAISALABAD: Director General of the Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA), Muhammad Asif Chaudhry, has directed officials to ensure strict implementation of anti-dengue measures during the ongoing monsoon season and warned that no negligence will be tolerated in preventing the breeding of dengue larvae. He emphasized full compliance with the directives issued by the Punjab government. He expressed these views while reviewing dengue surveillance activities during a meeting held at the FDA Complex. Chief Engineer Mehr Ayub, Director IT Yasir Ejaz Chattha, Deputy Director Engineering Talha Tabassum, Focal Person Muhammad Usman Ramay, and other relevant officers were also present. The FDA director general conducted a detailed inspection of various sections of the FDA Complex, including office rooftops, water storage tanks, and other locations. He directed officials to carry out regular inspections of all sites where rainwater could accumulate or where dengue larvae might breed. Muhammad Asif Chaudhry stressed that all surveillance activities under the anti-dengue campaign should be made more effective and result-oriented to ensure comprehensive preventive measures and protect citizens from the threat of dengue. He further instructed the concerned officers to continue strict monitoring not only within the FDA’s jurisdiction but also in private housing schemes. He emphasized that all precautionary and preventive measures should be implemented in accordance with the standing instructions of the Punjab government. The meeting was informed that eight FDA focal persons have been assigned responsibilities under the anti-dengue campaign. The director general directed all focal persons to conduct daily field inspections, prepare and submit regular reports on their activities, promptly identify any potential risks, and ensure timely preventive action. He also urged officials to continue implementing public awareness programmes on preventive measures against dengue larvae and mosquito breeding. Furthermore, he directed that close coordination and full cooperation with the district administration and the Health department be maintained to ensure the successful implementation of the anti-dengue campaign.
