ISLAMABAD: The Privatisation Commission (PC) has stated that Expressions of Interest (EoIs) for three power distribution companies (DISCOs) will be floated after formal approval from the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCoP) and the Federal Cabinet. Talking to Business Recorder, a PC official said that the transaction structure and restructuring plans for Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) and Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) were approved by the PC Board at its meeting held on April 14, 2026. “These will now be presented to the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCoP) at its upcoming meeting. Following approval by the CCoP, Expressions of Interest (EoIs) for the privatisation of the three DISCOs in the first phase will be invited, ” the official added. READ MORE: EoIs’ approval for sell-off of three DISCOs deferred till Sept Sources said that the issuance of EoIs was initially scheduled for April 2026 but has been slightly delayed as the CCoP meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, could not be held due to his engagements related to the Iran-US situation. However, the CCoP is now expected to meet in the first week of May 2026 to take a formal decision, which will subsequently be ratified by the Federal Cabinet. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
