LAHORE: Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique has directed the Suthra Punjab Authority (SPA) to ensure that all arrangements for Eid-ul-Adha are completed in advance as the holiday approaches. He issued this directive during a meeting of the SPA held on Monday. Punjab Local Government Secretary Shakeel Ahmed Mian and SPA Director General Babar Sahib Din were present, while all divisional commissioners participated through video link. During the meeting, the administrative matters of the Suthra Punjab Authority were discussed, and the progress of the committees formed at the divisional level for the transfer of assets to district agencies was reviewed. The Minister emphasised the importance of achieving better results this year compared to the previous two Eids, stating that additional resources will be provided for Eid operations if necessary. He noted that the Suthra Punjab program has developed into a strong network after undergoing initial experimental phases. He underscored the need for increased social awareness regarding cleanliness and praised the preparation of an animation project supervised by the SPA. This animation film features a character called ‘Suthra Hero’ who teaches the younger generation about the importance of cleanliness. He encouraged the dissemination of this engaging awareness film series on social media. He stated that achieving cleanliness targets is possible only with the full cooperation of citizens and added that the activities of agencies at the district level under the authority model are producing positive results. “The deputy commissioners and district managing directors should enhance the effectiveness of the monitoring process, ” he urged.
