Dar directs strict enforcement to cut SSGCL’s losses

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/FM) Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday chaired a high-level committee meeting on the issue of mounting Unaccounted-for Gas (UFG) losses of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL). The Committee was briefed on the critical operational challenges, financial impacts, and rising distribution losses affecting SSGCL’s network. Strategic measures were evaluated to curb illegal connections, upgrade pipeline infrastructure, improve revenue collection, and stabilise gas supply for legitimate consumers. He directed the concerned authorities to formulate a targeted, time-bound strategy to cut UFG losses, enforce strict protocols, protect public resources, and ensure public facilitation. The meeting was attended by Khalid Hussain Magsi, Federal Minister for Science and Technology; Ali Pervaiz Malik, Federal Minister for Petroleum; Rana Mubashar Iqbal, Federal Minister for Public Affairs Unit; SAPM Tariq Bajwa; Secretary Interior; Secretary Petroleum; Chief Secretary Balochistan; and senior officials from the Ministries of Energy and Foreign Affairs.
