LAHORE: A sessions court on Wednesday issued a notice to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) and sought a reply by August 17 on a petition seeking registration of a criminal case against Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman over his alleged controversial speech regarding security personnel. Petitioner Muhammad Waqar approached the court, requesting directions to the NCCIA for registration of a case against the JUI-F chief. Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel submitted that Maulana Fazlur Rehman allegedly made the remarks during a public gathering. He argued that the speech had hurt the sentiments of the petitioner as well as the general public. The counsel further contended that the alleged remarks had caused distress among the families of martyrs. He informed the court that an application for registration of a case against the JUI-F chief had already been submitted to the NCCIA, but no action had been taken so far. The counsel requested the court to direct the NCCIA director to proceed in accordance with the law and register a case against Maulana Fazlur Rehman over the alleged remarks.
