Condemn/surplus vehicles: KP govt notifies panel for disposal

PESHAWAR: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has modified an Auction Committees for condemned and surplus vehicles belonging to government departments, attached departments, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, closed projects, government-controlled boards, corporations, and other public sector organizations. According to a notification issued by the Administration Department (Transport Section), the committees have been constituted at the Provincial Headquarters, Divisional Headquarters, and District Headquarters to ensure a transparent, efficient, and well-publicized auction process. At the Provincial Headquarters level, the committee will be chaired by the Minister for Law, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while the Secretary Administration Department, Additional Secretary (Administration) Finance Department, Director General Excise & Taxation, Deputy Secretary (Administration), DIG Telecommunication Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will serve as members. The Section Officer (Transport), Administration Department, will perform the duties of Member-cum-Secretary. Separate Sub-Committees have also been constituted at the Divisional and District levels. These committees will be headed by a Cabinet Member or MPA nominated by the Chairman of the Auction Committee/ Minister for Law. The concerned Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, representative of the Administration Department, Secretary RTA, Excise & Taxation Officer (ETO), and Assistant Commissioner (in Divisional) /Additional Deputy Commissioner General (in District) will serve as members, with the designated officer acting as Member-cum-Secretary. The notification mandates the committees to conduct open, transparent, and widely publicized auctions of surplus and condemned government vehicles. The auctions will be held strictly on an “as-is” and “where-is” basis, ensuring compliance with all applicable rules, policies, and government instructions. The committees have also been authorized to co-opt any other government official for technical assistance whenever required and to issue detailed operational procedures for the smooth conduct of the auction process.
