CM directs MPAs to monitor uplift projects

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday directed members of the provincial assembly from Dera Ghazi Khan to monitor ongoing development projects in their respective constituencies. The chief minister held a meeting with MPAs from Dera Ghazi Khan, including Ahmed Khan Leghari, Ali Ahmed Leghari, Osama Abdul Karim, Hanif Pitafi, Osama Leghari and Salahuddin Khan. The meeting discussed the country’s political situation, law and order and public issues being faced by the people. The MPAs congratulated CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif on her successful visit to China and paid tribute to her for launching the electric bus service in DG Khan. They termed the electric bus service a “game changer” project and said the people of Dera Ghazi Khan were grateful to CM Maryam Nawaz for the initiative. The legislators said that the crime rate in DG Khan was continuously declining under the effective policies of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif. They said the improvement in law and order in the Katcha area for the first time was a manifestation of good governance in Punjab. Speaking on the occasion, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the purpose of her visit to China was to make Punjab a hub of artificial intelligence (AI). She said advanced methods of treatment and diagnosis for cancer and other diseases, on the Chinese model, would soon be introduced in Punjab. The chief minister said she was delighted to see people travelling on electric buses in DGK. She said road, drainage, water supply and beautification projects were also underway in DGK and other cities of Punjab. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
