Cameroon: NWSW Nutrition Cluster Map reflecting SAM and MAM screened in 2025 and 2026

SUMMARY OF SAM SCREENED IN 2026 In 2026, the Nutrition Cluster screened 128, 940 children (54% girls and 46% boys) for malnutrition. A total of 7, 015 (5. 44%) children were identified with SAM out of which 1, 563 (22. 22%) were admitted, that it 866 (12%) girls and 697 (10%) boys of the total SAM cases. A total of 77. 78% of the SAM cases identified in 2026 are still unattended. Out of the 128, 940 children screened, 3, 937 (3%) were found to be Moderately Acutely Malnourished (MAM), with an admission rate of 12% (470) of the total MAM, comprising 246 (52%) girls and 224 (48%) boys. This falls short of expectations, with 97% unadmitted. SUMMARY OF SAM SCREENED IN 2025 In 2025, the Nutrition Cluster screened 342, 057 children (53% girls and 47% boys) for malnutrition. A total of 3739 (1. 09%) children were identified with SAM out of which 3, 670 (98. 15%) were admitted, that it 2, 102 (56%) girls and 1, 568 (42%) boys of the total SAM cases. This presents an excellent admission rate compared to 2026 plagued by funding scarcity. Out of the 342, 057 children screened, 28, 973 (8. 47%) were found to be Moderately Acutely Malnourished (MAM), with an admission rate of 59% (17, 056) of the total MAM, comprising 9, 800 (57%) girls and 7, 256 (43%) boys. This presents a good admission rate compared to 2026, during which only 3% of MAM cases were admitted. These findings call for a dire need for timely nutrition interventions to continue to save the lives of children 6 to 59 months old in the NWSW Regions. THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW
