Barite, Lead and Zinc Project: PPL signs PMC contract with DMT Germany

KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has commenced the execution phase of its Barite, Lead and Zinc (BLZ) Project following the signing of a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) contract with Germany-based engineering services firm DMT Germany, marking a key milestone in the development of Pakistan’s mineral resources. The BLZ Project is a joint venture between PPL, which is the operator of the project, and the Government of Balochistan. According to the company, PPL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Khalid Rehman signed the agreement with DMT Germany Head Florian Beier on June 23 at PPL’s head office in Karachi in the presence of officials from both organisations, including Head of PPL Minerals Zeeshan Asghar. PPL said the partnership with DMT Germany reflects the company’s commitment to adopting international best practices, technical excellence and effective project execution. The Barite, Lead and Zinc Project is among Pakistan’s largest planned open-pit mining ventures and is expected to contribute to regional economic activity, mineral exports and the broader development of the country’s mineral resources.
