Overall Situation: Heavy to very heavy rainfall across the northeastern region and upstream catchments has caused a rapid rise in water levels in major river systems, including the Surma–Kushiyara, Khoai, and Dhanu–Baulai basins. As of 30 April 2026, the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) reported 1 river station under severe flood condition, 4 river stations under flood status, and 4 stations under warning alert. The situation remains dynamic, with heightened risk of flash flooding in low-lying haor areas. The most affected districts currently include Moulvibazar, Sylhet, Habiganj, and Netrokona, while Sunamganj, Kishoreganj, Cumilla, Brahmanbaria, and Feni remain under close observation. Approximately 3 million people across 5 districts, 17 Upazilas, and 102 Unions are considered at risk if rainfall intensity continues. The agricultural sector is already facing impacts, particularly standing boro paddy nearing harvest. BDRCS has activated the Emergency Operations Centre. All 9 affected district units are on standby with trained volunteers, response teams, and pre-positioned relief items ready for immediate deployment. Coordination with government authorities and humanitarian partners is ongoing to ensure timely preparedness and response actions.
