Bangladesh: Health Cluster Meeting Minutes on Measles Outbreak 10 August 2026

On 10 August 2026, the Bangladesh Health Cluster convened government authorities, UN agencies, Red Cross/Red Crescent partners, and NGOs to review the measles outbreak and coordinate further support. As of 6 August, 75, 818 suspected cases had been reported, of which 53, 279 were classified as confirmed. Although cases have declined since June, transmission remains above pre-outbreak levels, particularly among children under five; 22% of confirmed cases were among infants too young for routine vaccination, while 36% were among children over five. Partners prioritized validating vaccination coverage, continuing mop-up activities, identifying zero-dose and missed children, assessing vaccination needs among older age groups, investigating infections among infants under nine months, strengthening case management and healthcare-provider training, addressing vaccine hesitancy and misinformation, and improving community-level reporting and coordination.
