Balochistan dismisses 25 lady doctors over prolonged absence

The Balochistan Health Department has dismissed 25 women medical officers from service over their prolonged and unauthorised absence from official duties, sources said on Thursday. According to a notification issued by the provincial health secretary, the action has been taken after the completion of disciplinary proceedings against the officers under the Balochistan Employees’ Efficiency and Discipline Act, 2011 (BEDA). It said the officers were found to have remained deliberately and unauthorisedly absent from their duties and were dismissed as a disciplinary penalty. The dismissal, imposed under Section 4(b)(vii) of the BEDA Act, takes immediate effect, according to the notification. The department has described the action as part of its efforts to ensure attendance and improve the performance of government employees. Two medical officers and a security guard were also dismissed from service over prolonged absence, according to the notification.
