ATC summons sureties of PTI activist

LAHORE: An Anti Terrorism Court on Friday summoned the sureties of PTI activist Khadija Shah, a granddaughter of former army chief Asif Nawaz Janjua, for continuously failing to appear in the trial proceedings of a May 09 riots case. The court initiated proceedings against Ms Shah over her continuous non-appearance and summoned Jehanzeb and Murad Ali on May 11, who furnished sureties for her bail. Earlier, a prosecutor told the court that Ms Shah had gone into hiding after being convicted in one of the cases. He said the convict, who was on bail, had not been appearing before the court in the ongoing trials against her. An antiterrorism court had sentenced Khadija Shah, to five-year imprisonment in a case of torching a Supreme Court judge’s squad vehicle near Jinnah House during the May 09 riots.
