Nutrition Sentinel Site Surveillance System process and coverage Methodology The Community Nutrition Sentinel Site system works across 481 sites in 401 districts to track under‐five malnutrition. It uses simple mid‐ to upper‐arm measurements and checks for swelling. The system began in 2023 through close collaboration with partners and local communities. | 3 Selection follows a two‐step random approach: CHWs prepare household listings, then 40 households per site are randomly selected. One child aged 6–59 months is included from each home. When an ID is not available, a local calendar event helps confirm the child’s age. Trained Community Health Workers collect data every quarter, helping keep information reliable and consistent across places and over time. These workers receive strong practical and classroom training, and 40% of them are women. Early Childhood Food Insecurity Experience Scale (EC-FIES): It is fully integrated into the CHWs questionnaire, allowing CHWS to collect food insecurity data concurrently with MUAC measurements, biannually.
