Administration of justice requires integrity, impartiality: CJP

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi has said that the administration of justice requires not only sound legal acumen but also integrity, impartiality, and judicial temperament. A delegation of civil judges from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, currently undergoing in-service, pre-promotion training at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) under the Professional Exchange Programme, called on the Chief Justice at the Supreme Court on Tuesday. During the interactive session, the Chief Justice highlighted the evolving nature of judicial responsibilities and underscored the importance of continuous professional development. The CJP observed that training programmes conducted by judicial academies play a vital role in enhancing judicial capacity, promoting consistency in decision-making, and strengthening public confidence in the justice system. The Chief Justice noted that judicial officers must remain mindful of their constitutional responsibilities and strive to ensure that justice is delivered fairly, expeditiously, and in accordance with law. He encouraged the participants to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, independence, and ethical conduct, observing that the credibility and effectiveness of the justice system depended significantly upon the competence, integrity, and commitment of judicial officers. While meeting a delegation comprising District and Sessions Judges from various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mardan, Swat, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Kohat, Abbottabad, and Peshawar, the Chief Justice underscored the importance of citizen-centric reforms and observed that judicial institutions must continually embrace innovative and technology-enabled solutions to improve service delivery and strengthen public confidence in the justice system. The Chief Justice of Pakistan highlighted the ongoing reform initiatives aimed at facilitating litigants, enhancing institutional efficiency, and expanding access to justice through digitization, process automation, and improved public engagement. He briefed the delegation on the wide range of citizen-centric services being provided through the Public Facilitation Centre, which has been established as a one-window platform to enhance accessibility, transparency, and efficiency in the delivery of judicial services. The briefing covered various facilities available at the Centre, including case filing guidance, information and facilitation services, certified copy facilitation, case status information, litigant support services, digital information kiosks, e-filing assistance, online and e-payment facilities, as well as integrated public complaint and feedback mechanisms.
