Lebanon: Flash Update #46 – Escalation of hostilities in Lebanon (as of 23 July 2026)

HIGHLIGHTS At least 4, 329 deaths and 12, 233 injuries recorded due to hostilities since 2 March, with 349 fatalities and 229 injuries since the latest ceasefire announcement, according to the Ministry of Public Health. Two attacks on health care workers were reported, with an explosive device injuring two paramedics on 21 July and an airstrike injuring two paramedics on 23 July (WHO, MoPH) 753, 024 people reported returning to their areas of origin, while 375, 090 people remain displaced, including 29, 500 Internally Displaced Persons (over 53 per cent women and girls) in 271 collective shelters as of 23 July. Humanitarian and protection needs remain acute, driven by the destruction of homes and services, prolonged displacement, explosive ordnance risks, protection concerns, and declining coping capacities.
