On 08 June 2026, a 7. 8 magnitude earthquake struck the Southern Mindanao, with the epicenter located 32 kilometers off the coast of Maasim, Sarangani. The earthquake brought widespread shaking across Mindanao that caused infrastructure damage including collapsed buildings and houses, roads, bridges, hospitals, schools and disrupted utilities in Region 12 and 11. Access remains constrained with isolated municipalities due to damaged roads and bridges. PINGON member organizatons deployed assessment teams to severely affected areas and scaled up response efforts to address immediate needs of the severely affected communities in coordination with Local Government Units.
