Pakistan, Libya agree to enhance defence cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Libya have agreed to enhance bilateral defence cooperation, with a particular focus on expanding military-to-military collaboration, professional training, and regional security coordination. The understanding was reached during a meeting between Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI(M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff, and Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, on Wednesday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, evolving regional security dynamics, defence cooperation, and avenues to further strengthen military-to-military ties. They underscored the importance of deepening bilateral defence relations and expanding cooperation in the fields of professional military training and security. Field Marshal AsimMunir reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to promoting peace, stability, and constructive engagement with friendly countries. The visiting dignitary appreciated the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their contributions towards regional peace and security.
