Country: Philippines Source: European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations An earthquake of magnitude 6. 0 struck Eastern Samar Island on 4 May at 06: 09 UTC (14: 09 local time). The epicentre was located approximately 5 km west‐northwest of Nena Barangay (Eastern Samar Province). According to the USGS PAGER system, around 8 000 people were exposed to strong shaking. The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports that 212 people have been affected across the provinces of Eastern Samar, Leyte, Tacloban City, and Western Samar, all located in the Eastern Visayas Region. In addition, three houses were destroyed and 48 were damaged in Eastern and Western Samar provinces.
