KARACHI: The Sindh Government has taken decisive action on persistent delays and substandard progress in Lot 2 of the BRT Red Line Project in Karachi. According to TransKarachi’s Director Communication, Mahin Ali Khan, the contract awarded to CR3 and AM Associates JV has been terminated due to continuous delays, unsatisfactory performance, and failure to comply with health, safety, and environmental standards. The decision also reflects growing public inconvenience caused by prolonged construction disruptions across the city. During a recent review visit, a delegation from the Asian Development Bank raised serious concerns about the contractor’s pace of work, quality of execution, and non-compliance with occupational health and safety protocols. Lot 2 covers the key corridor from Mosmiyat to Numaish, where progress was found to be significantly below required benchmarks. Formal proceedings are currently being carried out by TransKarachi(Sindh Transport and MassTransit Department) to complete the termination process in accordance with contractual obligations. The Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring timely delivery of critical infrastructure projects, emphasizing strict accountability, improved oversight, and adherence to international standards in project execution.
