Country: Afghanistan Source: United Nations Population Fund Please refer to the attached file. Widespread flooding across 31 provinces in Afghanistan has affected more than 73, 300 people. Over the past 12 days, flash floods, heavy rainfall and landslides have resulted in 93 deaths and 181 injuries, destroying 7, 672 houses, 15, 627 acres of agricultural land and around 200 kilometres of roads. Across Afghanistan, women and girls are facing heightened barriers to essential reproductive and maternal health care, while displacement and overcrowded shelters increase protection risks. Persons with disabilities and female-headed households are particularly affected, facing additional barriers to accessing assistance and services. Community Rapid Needs Assessments are underway, with operational coordination teams active in 29 provinces. Preliminary findings point to urgent needs for food, non-food items, emergency shelter, hygiene and dignity kits, cash assistance, and psychosocial support. Health services remain largely operational, though access is constrained in some flood affected and hard-to-reach areas. Some facilities have been temporarily relocated to maintain continuity of care. Joint Assessment Teams have been deployed to verify damage and inform response planning, with UNFPA Emergency Response Teams participating across the Northern, North-Eastern, Western and Southern regions.
