ISLAMABAD: Opposing the imposition of governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) announced on Friday that it had accepted the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) invitation to attend an All Parties Conference (APC). JI Amir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman stated this while addressing a press briefing after a meeting with a delegation comprising leaders of the PTI and other opposition parties. The JI leaders held detailed talks with Opposition Leader in the Senate Allama Nasir Abbas and a PTI delegation led by party Chairman Barrister Gohar. Other JI leaders, including Liaquat Baloch and Engineer Nasrullah Randhawa, as well as PTI leaders Asad Qaiser, Salman Akram Raja and Amir Dogar, were also present. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said the JI would oppose any move to impose governor’s rule or suspend the Constitution in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He demanded the immediate restoration of meetings between PTI founder and party leaders, provision of medical facilities, and bail for him and detained women and political leaders. He also called on the government to engage in constructive negotiations without delay. Allama Nasir Abbas and Barrister Gohar thanked the JI for accepting the APC invitation and said that imposing an emergency in the country would only escalate the crisis further. They emphasised the need for cooperation and consultation among all political parties to address the federal government’s alleged lack of cooperation with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, non-provision of NFC funds, and the economic and law-and-order issues facing the public.
