The federal government will establish the country’s largest public facilitation centre under the Federal Ministry of Interior in Karachi, offering multiple citizen services under one roof. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who visited the Ministry of Interior office on I. I. Chundrigar Road on Tuesday, directed authorities to prepare and submit the master plan for the Grand Facilitation Centre within 10 days, according to a press release. The minister said counters of all departments and organisations working under the Interior Ministry would be available at the centre. Citizens will be able to access services including passports, CNICs, arms licences and various no-objection certificates (NOCs) at one location. Naqvi directed the authorities to incorporate all necessary requirements into the master plan and take immediate measures for establishment of the centre. Separately, 21 new vehicles for Islamabad Rescue 1122 and the Fire Brigade arrived at Karachi Port from China, marking the biggest expansion of Islamabad Rescue’s fleet since 2009. Naqvi inspected the vehicles at Karachi Port and said the new fleet would strengthen emergency response in Islamabad. The vehicles are expected to reach the capital within five days. The new fleet includes four aerial fire trucks, six fire towers and five fire tenders, with the vehicles equipped with modern firefighting and rescue equipment. According to a briefing, the vehicles can conduct rescue and firefighting operations at heights of up to 256 feet. The new fleet will remain available round-the-clock at six stations across Islamabad. Naqvi thanked the Chinese government for expediting the supply of the vehicles, describing their arrival as a welcome development for Islamabad’s emergency response system.
