A 4. 9-magnitude earthquake jolted Islamabad, Rawalpindi and several other areas on Tuesday, causing panic among residents. According to the seismological centre, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 196 kilometres, with its epicentre in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region. The epicentre was located at 36. 53 degrees north latitude and 70. 88 degrees east longitude, the centre said. Tremors were felt in Islamabad and Rawalpindi as well as other areas. There were no immediate reports of casualties or property damage.
