After Aleema, Imran’s other sisters, relatives also arrested: PTI

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday condemned the illegal and high handed action of Punjab Police in arresting both sisters of former prime minister Imran Khan, Noreen Khan and Dr Uzma Khan, their children, and the sons of Aleema Khan, who was arrested earlier. “According to information received, they have been placed in an armoured vehicle and are being taken to an unknown location. This is a blatant abuse of authority, a violation of fundamental rights, and an act of political victimization, ” the PTI said. The development comes a day after police arrested Imran’s other sister Aleema. A notification issued by Lahore’s district administration had said she had been arrested and sent to jail for 30 days. The arrests have been made amid reports of crackdown on PTI ahead of a planned protest march by the party on September 27. Targeting women and children of a political family in this manner exposes the true face of the Punjab government and Punjab Police, the party said. “Such conduct is illegal, unconstitutional, and is condemned in the strongest possible terms, ” it maintained. In a statement issued by its Central Media Department, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf demanded the immediate disclosure of their whereabouts, their safe return, and their production before a court of law. PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram also confirmed that Punjab Police had arrested both sisters of Imran, along with their children and the sons of Aleema. “They have been placed in an armoured vehicle and are being taken to an unknown location, ” he said. Meanwhile, Imran’s son Kasim Khan in a post on his X account said the arrest of the family members was a disgrace. “Now my Aunts Dr Uzma and Noureen, along with my cousins Shershah and Shahrez have now been abducted as well, ” he said. Kasim claimed that “they” had broken into his aunties and cousins houses and forced them into vehicles with no explanation. “No reasons for arrest have been stated. No news has been released as to where they have been taken. “This is criminal behaviour. Inexcusable. The Pakistani people are petrified of their own leaders. No upstanding nation should tolerate this criminal establishment. Intervention is now imperative. “The world MUST take action. ” On the other hand, Aaj News reported that five members of parliament belonging to PTI — including Senator Saifullah Niazi, Sanaullah Mastikhel, Jamal Ahsan Khan, Dawar Khan, and Muhammad Ghaus — have been arrested from Islamabad’s Red Zone and shifted to an undisclosed location. The country’s political landscape is witnessing heightened tension ahead of PTI’s planned protest on September 27. While opposition leaders continue to issue strong statements, the government has launched strict measures to maintain law and order. According to the Islamabad Police, the PTI lawmakers were arrested under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
