18 militants killed in security operations in KP, Balochistan

At least 18 militants were killed in separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, security sources said on Wednesday. In North Waziristan, security forces killed 13 militants belonging to the India-backed Fitna Al Khawarij terrorist group during an intelligence-based operation, the sources said. The forces targeted militant hideouts in North Waziristan and surrounding areas as part of ongoing operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative. Separately, security forces killed five militants during an operation against the Fitna Al Hindustan terror proxy in the Siah Pash and Killi Gashtari areas of Mastung district, Balochistan, the sources said. A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the militants, while clearance and search operations were underway in the areas, they added. Meanwhile, four people were seriously injured when a police checkpoint in Kohat came under attack by unidentified armed people. The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, while police launched a search operation in the area and tightened security following the attack.
