Country: Nigeria Source: Fact Foundation Please refer to the attached file. Key Messages • Urban livelihood interventions in garrison towns significantly improved income, basic needs coverage, and household resilience. Most beneficiaries reported better ability to meet basic needs (61%), reduced reliance on emergency assistance (90%), and sustained engagement in income-generating activities (70% started income activities that were still operating), indicating that livelihood support contributes meaningfully to economic stability in fragile urban settings. • High relevance, inclusivity, and community acceptance underpin the effectiveness of livelihood programming. Interventions were widely perceived as timely, culturally appropriate, and inclusive of women, youth, displaced persons, and minority groups, with strong satisfaction (98% very satisfied) regarding design, delivery, and fairness of targeting, reinforcing social cohesion and trust at community level. • Sustainability depends on extending support beyond initial inputs and addressing structural constraints. While skills transfer, community support, and diversified income sources support continuity, participants identified limited access to capital and credit, weak market access, insecurity and movement restrictions, and insufficient follow-up or mentoring as key barriers (66% cited lack of capital/credit; 38% lack of markets/buyers; 16% insecurity; 29% lack of follow-up support), highlighting the need for longer-term mentorship, financial access, and market linkages to consolidate gains.
