Three women killed in exchange of gunfire incident in Mardan

PESHAWAR: Three women were killed and two children were seriously injured in a firing incident in the Katalang area of district Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, creating fear and panic in the area. The incident took place late at night in the Katalang area, within the limits of Haraki police station. According to local sources, armed men opened fire on a house without warning. The attack proved deadly, and three women from the same family lost their lives on the spot. The victims included the wife of Mohammad Ali and his two daughters, both of whom were married and visiting their parents during the Eid holidays. The fatal shooting in Mardan also left two young children badly injured. The injured children are the grandchildren of one of the deceased women. Rescue teams reached the scene quickly and shifted them to a nearby hospital for treatment. Doctors have described the condition of one child as critical. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
