Non-bailable arrest warrant of KP CM issued

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s District and Sessions Court on Thursday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in a case concerning alleged remarks against state institutions. The court directed authorities to take Afridi into custody and produce him at the next hearing scheduled for April 9. Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah, who presided over the proceedings, noted Afridi’s absence and ordered the issuance of the warrant. According to court documents, Afridi is accused of making statements that allegedly misled the public and tarnished the reputation of state institutions. The case has been registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). The judge instructed law enforcement to ensure Afridi’s arrest and appearance before the court. The hearing was adjourned until April 9 for further proceedings. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
