KARACHI: Metropolitan Commissioner Karachi, Abrar Jaffar, on Saturday conducted a comprehensive inspection of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, urging improvements in patient care and hospital administration. During the visit, Jaffar toured multiple wards, engaging directly with patients to assess the quality of medical treatment and facility services. He stressed that hospitals under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) must combine effective medical care with professionalism and courteous patient interaction. “Patients must receive not only high-quality treatment but also respectful and empathetic care, ” Jaffar said, instructing staff to act promptly on complaints and ensure accountability. He directed doctors and paramedical personnel to maintain strict attendance, warning that negligence would not be tolerated. The Commissioner highlighted ongoing efforts to expand and upgrade KMC hospital facilities, including making new wards functional very soon. He also announced to conduct un-scheduled inspections of hospitals across the city to monitor service standards and operational efficiency. Emphasizing the dual role of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Jaffar noted that the institution serves not only as a healthcare provider but a key teaching facility contributing to medical education and training.
