KARACHI: Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) vice chairman Rafiq Khaskheli has termed the increase in petrol prices for the third consecutive day and diesel prices for the second consecutive day as another economic bomb on the people. He said that instead of providing relief to the people, the government is continuously increasing their problems. Even a slight increase in the prices of petroleum products causes a new wave of inflation in the country, he said. “Transport, electricity, food items and everything of daily use are expensive, but the government’s focus is on maintaining privileges and lavish expenses that burden the national exchequer instead of making the basic needs of the people affordable, ” he said. The PDP leader demanded that taxes on petroleum products and the government’s burden be reviewed. Basic necessities including electricity, gas, petrol, education and health should be brought within the reach of the common man, he said. “If the privileges of the privileged classes are reduced by just two percent and this money is spent on the basic needs of the people, then real relief can be given to the common man, ” said the Pasban vice chairman.
