PCJCCI seeks replication of Gwadar Friendship Hospital model across country

LAHORE: Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) has appreciated the successful operation of the China-aided Pakistan Friendship Hospital in Gwadar and called for the establishment of similar modern healthcare facilities across Pakistan, particularly in Punjab and other underserved areas. Adeel Munawar, Commercial Ambassador PCJCCI, in a statement said that the Pakistan Friendship Hospital in Gwadar is a practical and successful example of how Pakistan-China cooperation can translate into tangible benefits for local communities. He emphasized that the experience should be replicated in other parts of the country to strengthen Pakistan’s healthcare infrastructure and emergency response capacity. Pakistan should learn from successful international models and further expand cooperation with China in the healthcare sector, he added. Adeel said that recent concerns regarding preparedness and emergency response at major healthcare institutions have highlighted the urgent need for better-equipped hospitals, modern emergency facilities and advanced medical technology. According to him, Pakistan-China healthcare cooperation should go beyond hospital construction and include technology transfer, medical training, telemedicine, digital healthcare, modern diagnostic systems and emergency-response mechanisms. Commercial ambassador PCJCCI stressed that the Gwadar Friendship Hospital demonstrates what can be achieved when modern infrastructure, advanced medical equipment, skilled healthcare services and patient-focused facilities are brought together. Since its inception, the hospital has provided diagnosis and treatment to approximately 150, 000 patients, making it an important healthcare facility for the people of Gwadar and surrounding areas. Adeel viewed that Punjab should be a major priority for expanding Pakistan-China healthcare cooperation because of its large population and extensive urban and rural communities. He further urged stakeholders to explore the establishment of Pakistan-China Friendship Hospitals in major cities and underserved districts of Punjab, while extending the successful Gwadar model to Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other regions of Balochistan.
