Following Google, US tech firm Mobiz opens regional office in Karachi

In a key development for the country’s tech sector, US-based technology company Mobiz has established its regional office in Pakistan at the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park (NASTP), Karachi, marking an expansion of its operations in the country. SECP Chairman Kabir Ahmed Sidhu welcomed the company’s decision, saying “the expansion of global technology companies in Pakistan reflects confidence in the country’s IT talent”. Mobiz, a technology company headquartered in Houston, provides services in cloud computing, data, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity across various countries. Speaking on the occasion, Sidhu said Pakistan’s talented youth had the potential to play a prominent role in the global IT market. “Pakistan has vast opportunities to become a regional technology and global services hub, ” said Sidhu, adding that investment by global IT companies in Pakistan will create employment opportunities for youth and new avenues to work at an international level. Pakistan’s IT sector has shown significant growth and potential, emerging as a crucial source of foreign exchange for the country. In FY2025-26, IT and IT-enabled services exports reached a record $4. 6 billion, a 20. 6% increase from $3. 8 billion the previous year. The SECP chairman said the regulator was working on transparency, digitalisation and regulatory reforms to facilitate ease of doing business. He added that adopting modern technology could reduce business costs and save time while improving transparency and operational efficiency. Sidhu congratulated Mobiz Global on the launch of its Karachi office and expressed hope that the company would further expand its operations in Pakistan. The development comes days after Google officially opened its first local office in Pakistan, a significant step in strengthening its engagement with the country’s technology ecosystem. The Prime Minister welcomed the decision, viewing the establishment of a local office as a move toward a stronger, long-term partnership with Pakistan.
