Curfew re-imposed in Balochistan’s restive Mastung tehsil

QUETTA: The Balochistan Home Department on Sunday again imposed an indefinite curfew in Khad Kocha Tehsil of Mastung district, citing security concerns and the need to maintain law and order and protect the lives and property of the public. The department order, which took effect at 7am, completely restricts public movement on roads and in markets in Khadkocha and its adjoining areas. The district administration and law enforcement agencies have intensified security measures in the area to prevent and promptly respond to any untoward incident. Additional law enforcement personnel have been deployed to ensure compliance, establish the writ of the state, and respond to any potential incidents. The district administration urged residents to stay indoors and cooperate with authorities. In a notification, the administration warned anyone venturing outside and violating the restrictions would do so at their own risk. The curfew will remain in force until further notice, authorities said. Earlier on July 22, authorities ordered a similar lockdown in Khadkocha after three people were killed and five others injured in a gun attack on a Karachi-bound bus.
