Pakistan consider changes for Lord’s Test after heavy defeat in opener

Pakistan are considering changes to their playing XI for the second Test against England at Lord’s after suffering a heavy defeat in the opening match of the three-Test series. The second Test will begin on August 27, with England leading the series 1-0. The Pakistan team management is expected to finalise the playing XI after assessing conditions in London, sources said. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan could be rested as the management weighs changes following the defeat in Leeds. Pakistan are also hopeful that Test captain Babar Azam will return to the side after missing the first Test with a finger injury. If Babar is declared fit, Azaan Owais is likely to make way for him. The sources said Pakistan could field two spinners at Lord’s because of the dry conditions expected in London. Fast bowler Ubaid Shah is also likely to be preferred for the second Test because of his pace, the sources added. The conditions in London are expected to differ from those in Leeds, with a dry surface and a relatively flat pitch anticipated for the Lord’s Test.
