Police investigators probing the murder of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza have obtained a mobile phone SIM issued in his name, sources said on Sunday. The SIM has now been transferred to Raza’s mother following a request by the police and after completion of biometric verification and other documentation requirements. Investigators will use the SIM to access Raza’s WhatsApp account and retrieve its backup data as part of the ongoing investigation, the sources said. The investigation team has also obtained WhatsApp messages that Raza sent to close friends before his death. The messages reportedly contained references to his financial and domestic circumstances. Meanwhile, investigators have recorded the statement of a security guard at a residential building near the crime scene. Statements had earlier been recorded from the prayer leader, muezzin and members of the management committee of a nearby mosque, the sources said.
