PESHAWAR: The funeral prayers of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and other martyrs in absentia were offered at the Markaz-e-Islami Peshawar, the headquarters of Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.The Supreme Leader of the neighbouring Islamic Republic of Iran and other was martyred in the barbaric attacks by Israel at the behest of the United States.The funeral prayers were led by prominent religious scholar and provincial deputy chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana Dr Muhammad Ismail.Immediately after the funeral, a protest rally was taken out from Markaz Islami to Sardar Garhi BRT stop on GT Road to express solidarity with the Iranian people under the leadership of Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami KP Central Abdul Wasi, former senior provincial minister and North Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Inayatullah Khan, provincial general secretary Sabir Hussain Awan, and Ameer of Peshawar District Bahrullah Khan Advocate.The rally participants chanted slogans against the United States and Israel for the brutal Israeli attacks on Iran and demanded that the Pakistani government support Iran and raise its voice against Israel at the global level against these shameful and inhumane attacks by Israel at the behest of the United States.Earlier, on the occasion of the absentee funeral prayers of Iranian martyrs, the leaders of JI said that Israel is playing the role of the biggest murderer of humanity in the region, which has massacred humanity by continuously bombing innocent children, women and unarmed civilians in Gaza and Palestine for the past two and a half years and has now turned to Iran.The speakers have called on the Pakistani government to openly declare its support for Iran because at present, India and Israel are trying to change the government in Iran with the cooperation of the United States and fulfil their aggressive ambitions against Pakistan.The speakers have also called on the rulers of other Islamic countries in the region to help Iran and adopt a common strategy against the nefarious aims of Israel, which plays the role of global imperialism.Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
