UNICEF Ethiopia Humanitarian Situation Report No. 3 (Mid-Year), 30 June 2026

Highlights During the first six months of 2026, UNICEF provided lifesaving treatment to 328, 422 children under the age of five suffering from acute malnutrition across the country. During the same period, 1, 915, 451 women and children accessed primary health care services, while 538, 834 people gained access to safe drinking water through the rehabilitation and solarization of water supply systems. During the reporting period, UNICEF supported 162, 716 children to access formal and non-formal education opportunities. Shock-Responsive Cash Transfers (SRCTs) were provided to 44, 688 households, including 26, 933 female-headed households, helping vulnerable families meet their immediate needs. During the reporting period, UNICEF supported more than 92, 742 children, adolescents and caregivers to access mental health and psychosocial support services. UNICEF’s Humanitarian Action for Children (HAC) Appeal for Ethiopia, requiring US$401. 5 million, remains 78 per cent unfunded, despite continuing needs for lifesaving supplies, cash assistance, essential services, and technical support for vulnerable children and families across the country.
