UNICEF Chad Humanitarian Situation Report No. 1 (Mid-Year), 30 June 2026

Highlights Key humanitarian figures remain high, with 2, 263, 434 forcibly displaced persons in Chad, including 1, 539, 783 refugees, 9, 413 asylum seekers, 219, 595 internally displaced persons and 494, 643 returned migrants. This includes 1, 371, 605 Sudanese refugees as of the end of June, of whom 934, 202 have arrived since April 2023, alongside 437, 403 Sudanese refugees already present before the crisis; in Lac Province, 60, 390 people were newly displaced across 16 sites. The cholera outbreak in Hadjer Lamis Province reached 129 cases and 4 deaths as of 30 June 2026. UNICEF provided safe water access to 274, 273 people, sanitation services to 47, 782 people, WASH kits to 72, 763 people, and hygiene promotion messages to 338, 493 people. Education support reached 178, 309 children, including 142, 702 children who received school materials, and 35, 607 out-of-school children who gained access to formal or non-formal education.
