10 policemen including DSP martyred in terrorist attack in Hangu

PESHAWAR: Ten police personnel, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), were martyred after terrorists attacked the Khazina Banda police check post in Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to District Police Officer (DPO) Tariq Habib 22 police personnel were also injured in the militants’ attack. He further said that eight terrorists were also killed while six others got injured in retaliatory fire. He added that a clearance operation against the terrorists was continuing in the area. Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a police check post in Hangu district and sought a detailed report on the incident from the Inspector General of Police. According to a spokesperson for the Chief Minister’s House, the chief minister paid glowing tribute to the DSP and police personnel who embraced martyrdom in the attack, describing their sacrifices as unforgettable. He also expressed heartfelt condolences and solidarity with the bereaved families. The chief minister directed the authorities to ensure the immediate provision of the best possible medical treatment to the injured personnel and said the provincial government would extend every possible support to the families of the martyrs. He further said the sacrifices rendered by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police in the fight against terrorism would always be remembered and that the entire nation salutes the courage and commitment of its brave officers and personnel. Muhammad Sohail Afridi reaffirmed that maintaining peace and security remains the government’s foremost priority, adding that the sacrifices of the police force would never be allowed to go in vain. He said the entire nation stands united against terrorism and vowed that terrorists would be brought to their logical end. The funeral prayers for the martyred police personnel, including DSP City Diyar Khan, who were martyred in a terrorist attack on a police check post in Hangu, were offered with full state honours at the Hangu Police Lines. The solemn ceremony was attended by Commandant Police Training College Hangu Shoaib Abbas, Deputy Commissioner Basir Ali Rahman, senior police officials, fellow officers, jawans, and a large gathering of local elders and residents. A police contingent presented a guard of honour in recognition of their services to the nation. Following the funeral prayers, the bodies of the martyrs were dispatched to their native areas with full state honours, where they will be buried with official honours.
