IK’s sister Noreen Niazi booked under PECA

ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered a case against Noreen Niazi, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan, under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). The NCCIA registered the case against Khan’s sister under Section 20 and Section 26A of the PECA and Sections 505 and 506 of PPC for allegedly making false and baseless allegations against Pakistan and its armed forces. The FIR says that Noreen Niazi shared false, provocative, derogatory, and threatening material through social media and organized propaganda against state and security institutions. The FIR further alleged that the controversial podcast went viral through social media platform X, which was re-tweeted by several accounts. The FIR also accuses Noreen Niazi of disseminating false, provocative, insulting, and threatening content through electronic means. It further alleges that she carried out organised propaganda against state institutions and security agencies. It further alleged that Noreen Niazi tried to deny the successes of the Pakistan armed forces during Maraka-e-Haq and spread a false narrative to create hatred, fear, and distrust among the public against the state institutions. As per the FIR, the agency has issued several notices to the accused to record her statement and asked her to join the investigations. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
