Kidney Institute to have new block: mayor

KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will expand the Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases (KIKD) by constructing a new block and establishing satellite centres across the city to improve access to specialized kidney care. This was stated by the Mayor of Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, while presiding over a meeting to review the institute’s performance, future expansion, and the enhancement of medical facilities. He said the KMC-run kidney institute would be further upgraded to meet the growing demand for specialized renal healthcare, with its services extended beyond the main facility through a network of satellite centres across the city. He also said that he would personally donate a dialysis machine and a reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment plant to the institute to strengthen its treatment capacity.
