PSPA to use AI, satellites to curb illegal construction

LAHORE: In a bid to enforce master planning and curb illegal construction, the Punjab Spatial Planning Authority (PSPA) is integrating satellite technology and AI to monitor commercial construction and preserve green belts across the province. Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the PSPA’s Board of Directors. Punjab Local Government Secretary Shakeel Ahmed Mian, PSPA Director General Abdullah Nayyer and other members also attended the meeting. On this occasion, the Minister directed the PSPA to continue taking steps to achieve the goals and said the scope of monitoring commercial construction activities will be gradually expanded. He added that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif wants to promote construction culture in Punjab according to master planning. “The PSPA’s AI system is being trained with the help of satellites. ” “An online system for approving housing schemes has been introduced from the Planning Support System. The establishment of PSPA is an important step for the protection of green areas, and the Spatial Planning Authority will be provided with the required resources.
