KEY HIGHLIGHTS EAST AFRICA Below-average rainfall, delayed seasonal onset, and above-average temperatures are contributing to crop water stress in Sudan, South Sudan, and parts of Ethiopia. With forecasts pointing to continued rainfall deficits through the peak growing season, the risk of deteriorating crop conditions is increasing across affected areas. WESTERN AFRICA Seasonal conditions remain broadly favorable across most agricultural areas, with rainfall generally supporting crop establishment. However, localized delays in seasonal onset and emerging crop stress in parts of Chad, Mali and northern Nigeria remain areas of concern, while forecasts point to a risk of continued rainfall deficits across the eastern Sahel during the peak of the growing season. LATAM The Primera season has progressed unevenly across parts of the Dry Corridor, where below-average early-season rainfall delayed planting and hindered crop establishment. Although rainfall has improved in some areas, persistent soil moisture deficits and forecasts for continued below-average rainfall through October are raising concerns about crop production. SOUTH & SE ASIA The monsoon is now established across South and Southeast Asia, supporting the main agricultural season, although rainfall distribution remains highly variable. Forecasts indicate continued dry and hot conditions across several countries through the peak growing season, raising concerns for crop production, while wetter conditions in parts of mainland Southeast Asia could increase the risk of flooding.
